From Ea09

Registration is now open !

The 9th international conference on Artificial Evolution (EA'09) will take place from October 26th to 28th 2009 in Strasbourg (East of France), which will give attendees a great opportunity to discover the Alsace region, its gastronomy and renowned wines over three days.

As usual, the conference tries to maximize many objectives, namely:

  • Quality, with a usual acceptance rate under 50% and the best papers (12 pages, LNCS format) published in Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science series as post-proceedings (cf. previous editions of EA conferences published in LNCS 1363, 1829, 2310, 2936, 3871, 4926). (According to the Computer Science Conference Ranking site, the EA conference is among the top 50 international conferences (among 701) in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Robotics / Human Computer Interaction, with an impact factor of 0.70.)
  • Comfort, with a unique single session formula of 30mn presentations, which guarantees a large audience to all accepted papers,
  • Interest, with (beyond the presented papers) a great invited speaker: Prof Darrell Whitley (check out the abstract: Elementary Landscapes and why they matter),
  • Friendly atmosphere, with included lunches, coffee breaks, social event and banquet (cf. below),
  • Best value for money, with minimal conference fees: EUR 200 for students and reviewers (who, thanks to their hard work, greatly contribute to the quality of the conference), EUR 250 for academics and EUR 350 for industrials/companies.

Important Dates

  • Conference: 26th to 28th October 2009
  • Submission: 24th April 2009 8th May 2009

Social event and banquet

On Tuesday afternoon, a walk around Strasbourg is planned, with a meeting at the famous Cathedral, the tallest building in the world (between 1647 and 1874).

We will then go to the historic cellars of the Strasbourg hospitals that date back to 1395 for wine tasting. Historically, these huge cellars were used to store wine and food for the whole town. The cellar contains three historical "foudres" (huge casks) dated 1472, 1519 and 1525. The 1472 foudre (an exceptional vintage) still contains 300 liters of the oldest wine in the world that was served only three times in five centuries: in 1576, 1718 and 1944, to General Leclerc, who liberated the town during the 2nd World War.

To end the day, the banquet will take place at Ami Schutz, one of Strasbourg's most famous "Winstub".

Lunch

... will take place at restaurant Le Ktorze, situated just next to the conference venue.

Please mention any special requirements (vegetarian, for instance).
